Restorative Meditation

Wednesday evenings 6:15-7:30pm, held in studio at The Innate Connection

A fusion of guided meditation and restorative yoga to allow your transition into a deeply restful state. Through supported physical stillness, restorative postures, and light reflection; you’ll discover your natural ability to be at peace.

Lesson: Restorative Meditation opens with a short reflection to share ‘how are you’, and any personal intentions for the class. Touching on the weekly theme, the group can contribute insights to refine the direction of the guided meditation. Using handmade bolsters, props, and blankets the group then transitions through long-hold, supported restorative yoga postures designed to relax and soften tension through the body. During this physical stillness the mind can become slow and peaceful too, assisted by guided breathing techniques, body scans, and grounding meditations. Throughout the practice, a light awareness on thoughts, emotions, and sensations is encouraged. To finish the restorative practice, a reading from a selected poem followed by a short group reflection on your own observations and experience.

Traditional Meditation

Wednesday evenings 7:30-8:45pm, held in studio at The Innate Connection

Contemplative discussion under loving guidance to inspire your self-inquiry, insights, and growth. With traditional meditative work of group processing and healing, you’ll find connection alongside your inner unfolding.

Lesson: Traditional Meditation opens with a short reflection to share ‘how are you’, and any personal intentions for the class. Moving into a discussion of meditation in the everyday, the class is invited to explore how insightful yogic concepts and principles can meet our personal circumstances and experiences. Drawing from a weekly theme, flowing rounds of self-inquiry soften the heart and the mind. Followed by a guided 20-30 minute meditation, students cultivate essential skills of calm, connection and understanding through various heart-opening meditations. Lastly, a period of meditation in stillness with no guidance, and then a reading from a selected poem followed by a short group reflection on your own observations and experience.

Mindfulness Meditation

Saturday mornings 9:15-10:30am, held in studio at The Innate Connection

Holistic mindfulness practices from their origins to invite meditative teachings into your daily life. Group reflection combined with guided mindfulness will foster your personal understanding, attentiveness, and non-judgement.

Lesson: Mindfulness Meditation opens with a short reflection ‘how are you’, and an inquiry of any specific areas to cast mindful attention on for the class. Students are introduced to a mindfulness practice and technique to explore for the session, then a discussion of the history and theory behind it with the technique’s application to personal circumstances. Using the weekly theme, the group is led through a 30-40 minute mindfulness meditation, noticing moment by moment, and building a strong presence and attentiveness. Lastly, a period of meditation in stillness with no guidance, and then a reading from a selected poem followed by a short group reflection on your own observations and experience.
