Restorative Meditation

Wednesday evenings 6:30-7:45pm, held at The Innate Connection, Croydon

A unique balance of guided meditation and restorative yoga to facilitate your transformation into deep rest, both in mind and body. Through supported physical stillness you’ll discover your ability to continually heal from stress; strengthening your natural inner state of peace and rest.

Lesson sequence: Restorative meditation opens with a gentle self-inquiry, where students enjoy a safe space to share where they’re at, and any personal intentions for the class. Using handmade bolsters, props, and blankets the group then transitions through long-hold, supported restorative yoga postures designed to relax and soften tension through the body. During this physical stillness the mind can become slow and peaceful too, assisted by guided breathing techniques, body scans, and grounding meditations. Throughout the practice, a light awareness on thoughts, emotions, and sensations is encouraged. To finish the restorative practice, a reading from a selected poem followed by a short group reflection on your own observations and experience.

Book Restorative Meditation

 

Traditional Meditation

Wednesday evenings 7:45-9pm, held at The Innate Connection, Croydon

Intuitive meditation practices for true grounding and deep connection, guiding you into calm, compassionate awareness. Find personal refuge in your breath, clarity in your mind, and peace in your heart; unfolding through the traditional meditative work of self-inquiry.

Lesson sequence: Traditional meditation opens with five minutes of shared silence, where students can close their eyes, slow down, and fully arrive in the space. The group is then welcomed to share intentions for the class, and to cast a soft awareness on any personal areas that may want attention. Moving into a light discussion of meditation in the everyday, the class is invited to explore how insightful yogic concepts and principles can meet our personal circumstances and experiences. Followed by a guided 30 minute meditation, students can cultivate essential skills of calm, connection and understanding through breath and sensory awareness. Lastly, a period of meditation in stillness with no guidance, and then a reading from a selected poem followed by a short group reflection on your own observations and experience.
